Onions are extremely difficult to wet. Seven trials with 6 different fungicides (against various pathogens) and 5 trials with 4 different insecticides (against thrips) showed a significant improvement in the effect on onions. Rapid penetration and absorption of herbicides (in this case dicamba) into guard cells and epidermal cells of leaves with the aid of BELWET, within 30 minutes. This leads to a significant improvement in rain resistance. Doses of 50 – 100 ml/ha of BELWET to spray solutions produce these effects with herbicides (top right: strong green means strong penetration of the herbicide – top left: almost no penetration without BELWET; fluorescence test technique).
BELWET® also promotes soil wetting and penetration of irrigation water into soils – leading to greater rooting depth, improved nutrient and fertiliser use efficiency and avoiding salt stress.
